I suggest read especially Ward-Perkins' The Fall of Rome, p. 136, "The Danger of Specialization".

That is now what is rolling out and is in store under collapsing globalization specialization, by analogy with ancient Roman specialization's collapse at its fall.

There are several important points here, not just the one.

He says that the very rise of Roman specialization caused a decline, a collapse in fact, of indigenous and local and regional iron age cultural developments in many cultures Rome overcame.

That prior collapse of pre existing iron age cultural development displaced by Roman specialization, resulted in a collapse after Rome fell back vi8rtually to the stone age throughout Europe, since nothing much remained of the prior developments.
