The desire to become an American politician, as distinct from politicians in other countries, appears to be a species of genetic abnormality.
We have seen it crop up and recur in, among others, Adamses, Roosevelts, Kennedys, Bushes, Romneys, and now Clintons.
The British ruling class, of course, was so interbred, that one sees the abnormality crop up there, but it is masked by the role aristocrats were otherwise called upon to play there in any event.
