That is the story they must tell, really from 1760 until now.
The liberal international economic order is an ongoing, centuries long, ideological, revolutionary movement.
If there is a conflict, it must be either a struggle for the advancement of liberalism, or else anti liberal terrorism. There are no other available ideological categories, going forward, in the West.
They used to call what we now call terrorism either counter revolution, from the right; or radical Jacobinism, anarchism, or babeuvism, from the left. But back then those were the only two main alternative terms used, among us liberal girls, in the West.
They did not characterize world society as marked by different civilizations. For them, there was only one civilization, and that originally was the West.
That is still the underlying theme of the liberal international economic order, in spite of countless procouncements by pundits to the contrary.
It is an ongoing revolution because there is still not a single global family of man in being.
