Why was it not good enough then in politics and diplomacy?
The mere bogey of despotism seems not to be enough.
If politics ought to (Jefferson), and must, keep up with economics, why then not let it do its natural work?
Why try to pick liberal winners?
Let them show themselves.
Isn't that what self determination, eventually, came to preach?
