a propos DK's current post

Most advanced states, heretofore, for various reasons, needed world trade, often as part of a strategic position emanating out of conflicts within Europe, within western civilization. They also needed banker participation in trade ventures related to international investments and security.

Those advanced states, which needed world trade more than other advanced states, are more likely to end up in some aggressor posture, of one kind or another,  than those few, or unique, states which do not.

Certainly they found, in most cases, that they needed investment banker participation to prosper.

The United States, on the other hand, did not, for a variety of reasons.

I can cite authorities for this if need be.
