RE THE PARTY OF DAVOS

Huntington had had a great passage, in The Clash, on this, way back then....Geoff Faux only a much later footnote, really.

RE THE GREAT STRUGGLE

"The great struggles of the twentieth century between liberty and totalitarianism ended with a decisive victory for the forces of freedom—and a single sustainable model for national success: freedom, democracy, and free enterprise. In the twenty-first century, only nations that share a commitment to protecting basic human rights and guaranteeing political and economic freedom will be able to unleash the potential of their people and assure their future prosperity. People everywhere want to be able to speak freely; choose who will govern them; worship as they please; educate their children—male and female; own property; and enjoy the benefits of their labor. These values of freedom are right and true for every person, in every society—and the duty of protecting these values against their enemies is the common calling of freedom-loving people across the globe and across the ages."

RE SHOOTINGS IN PARIS

Maybe it's time for the West to hit back, in its sick way, say Madonna and Gaga do a tour, call it

ESCAPE FROM THE SERAGLIO,

something like that, to really stir the pop music culture pot.

Tour the Middle East with that.

SEE DK'S CURRENT POST AND COMMENTS

I may have made myself misunderstood by Mr Glover and others.

See this article and especially the quote below:

www.nps.gov/resources/story.htm?id=251

The Southern lag in industrial development did not result from any inherent economic disadvantages. There was great wealth in the South, but it was primarily tied up in the slave economy. In 1860, the economic value of slaves in the United States exceeded the invested value of all of the nation's railroads, factories, and banks combined. On the eve of the Civil War, cotton prices were at an all-time high. The Confederate leaders were confident that the importance of cotton on the world market, particularly in England and France, would provide the South with the diplomatic and military assistance they needed for victory.

MAC AMORE

For Gigi:
Happy holidays

“(In Napoli where love is king
When boy meets girl here's what they say)

Five'll get you ten Old Macky's back in town
D'ja hear 'bout Louie Miller? He disappeared, babe …

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie
Just a jackknife has MacHeath, that’s amore!

Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly white,"Vita bella".

You know when that shark bites with his teeth, babe
And he keeps it out of sight, that’s amore!

Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Scarlet billows start to spread, like a gay tarantella.

Fancy gloves, though wears MacHeath, babe
When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fool.

When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
there's never, never a trace of red, that’s amore.

When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
Oh, that cement is just its there for the weight, you're in love

When you walk in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming senior, someone's sneakin' 'round a corner.

When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
D'ja hear 'bout Louie Miller? He disappeared, babe.

Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
Old Macky's back in town,  "Vita bella".

Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli

That's amore (amore)

RAWHIDE ON THE RANGE

For Scarlett:

Happy Holidays?

"Oh give me a home,
Where the buffalo roam

Don't try to understand em
Just rope throw an brand em

Where the deer and the antelope play
Soon we'll be living high and wide.

Boy my heart's calculatin', my true love will be waitin',
Home, home on the range,

Keep them doggies movin'
Don't try to understand 'em,

Where seldom is heard, keep movin', movin', movin',
A discouraging word, though they're disapprovin',

Move 'em on, head 'em up,
And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Just rope throw and brand' em,
Soon we'll be living high and wide.

be waiting at the end of my ride.
Move 'em on, head 'em out Rawhide!"

BEAT IT MEAN FIRST VERSION

For Betty Boop:
Happy Burp Day

'She was more like a wolverine
from a sit com scene,
(chorus) do do do do do, doooo do do, do
do do do do do, doooo do do

She said her name was Billy Mean,
And she ripped my jeans.
(chorus) do do do do do, doooo do do, do
do do do do do, doooo do do

I said you better sew these right now,
or I'll fake a scene
(chorus) do do do do do, doooo do do, do
do do do do do, doooo do do

She said I am the one
who will dance on the ground in the round now,
(chorus) do do do do do, doooo do do, do
do do do do do, doooo do do

Billy Mean's not my lover, she's just a girl claims I am the one
It doesn't matter who's right or wrong
And who wants to beware,
(chorus) Just beat it beat it beat it, do do do ,do
Just beat it beat it beat it, do do do ,do

Then showed a selfie (paint bot) of me, says I am the one,
but the kid's not my one, eyes just like mine.
(chorus) do do do do do, doooo do do, do
do do do do do, doooo do do

Billy Mean's not my lover, she just claims I am one,
I say yes, that's my selfie, it doesn't matter which side I'm on,
I don't want to be square,
so beat it beat it beat it, do do do ,do
Just beat it beat it beat it, do do do ,do

ps I wouldn't use Quincy Jones' stuff for this.
use say let It Bleed, or country Honk, or meld them.

RE REVOLUTIONS

Quigley talked about revolutions 'out of order', in the so called developing world.

That was a key insight for its time in the 60s.

What we have seen since the 60s however is a leap frogging over stages of development in various sectors, such that my oft cited lament,

'never in the history of human conflict has so much been given away, to so many, by so few, so quickly, for so little,'

sums up the history since the 60s nicely.

SIR MICHAEL HOWARD THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR WESTERN CIVILIZATION WAS REALLY AROUND 1776

The coup de grace was 1945:

"...The citizens of the United States had not joined in the Second World War to prop up a system of imperial domination against which they had been the first people to revolt...." Sir Michael Howard

The universal empire of Western Civilization, in Quigley's terminology, was the British Empire, after 1763, not the Napoleonic, briefly, thereafter.
