Russia HEAVY AUDIENCE AGAIN DON'T THESE POOR DEVILS REST OVER THERE
RUSSIA MOVING SHIPS NEARER SYRIA CLINTON BOOMING EVERYTHING ELSE IN ASIA TO COUNTERACT CHINA DUMB AND DUMBER THE GREAT APPEASEMENT BOOM
(Also, Russia and China, closer together than ever I guess.)
Who engineered that? Term search: fattening things up
Hilary 'talking with China', but also encouraging all surrounding economies to boom at once, ostensibly to contain it?
Or what, further hollow out Western countries with a continuing Asian boom?
Dumb and dumber?
Call it 'The Great Appeasement Boom' of the second half of the 20th Century.

Here is a classic example from today BBC:

Why, given the history, would anyone be surprised by such a thing?
Only western illiterates.

RE KRUGMAN THE GREAT ABDICATION
This is the key passage in his account that is now, very differently from 1931, quite false:
"As in 1931, Western nations have the resources they need to avoid catastrophe, and indeed to restore prosperity..."
"As in 1931, Western nations have the resources they need to avoid catastrophe, and indeed to restore prosperity..."
re what matters this or that reason
Why not reprise an old but good post?

Re those comments, see also these authors:
Steingart, Huntington, Prestowitz, Chalmers Johnson, van Wolferen, Friedman LeBard, Sir Michael Howard, Kennan, etc, etc,
the list goes on and on.

For most Americans, who are history-challenged,
you might take a look at The Chinese Connection,
or even, You Only Live Twice. I'm sure there are a lot of other films, but I haven't seen them.

RE ISAAC BABEL THE AWAKENING ODESSA MUSICAL PRODIGY FACTORY
This was referred to in Teaching Genius,
and it made me think, also,
of Toddlers & Tiaras,
which I happened to watch recently,
with a very avid fellow viewer.

Russia visit sparks Japan ire BBC
Why not give my numerous Russian guests here something to scrutinize?
They are the most numerous on this blog.
My own view,
big picture,
is that Russia should be divided in the middle,
perhaps involuntarily,
the Asian half become a separate state,
the European half become another.
Oh heck, why not three or four different states,
while we are at it,
give them something to squabble about among themselves.

RE BOBBITT FUKUYAMA ETC
Recall that Bobbitt, in The Shield of Achilles echoed Fukuhama's view, back then, that the ideological and constitutional war, as Bobbitt had put it, The Long War, had been won in 1990 by the US over USSR, and previously also over Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Bigger picture, I do not believe anything of the kind occurred.
This has been, rather, an even longer conflict, not so much over constitutional liberalism versus the rest, but rather over civilizational dominance, in which the West's more or less long civil war, and concomitant buildup of the East in that conflict, has doomed it to decline as against the East.
Term search: various terms.

RE CHASTITYBELT COSMETIC LINES EAU DE SKUNK VAMPOFF
There might be certain types of scents,
eg Eau De Skunk, or Eau de Paper Mill, Sulphurbomb,
to ward off would-be intimacers.
Things like that.
Clothing lines would be, of course, designed to deter closer attention, disguise the figure, and even the sex,
such as camouflage type attire,
or even use of plastic foliage (A midsummer Nights Dream)
to obscure the entire human form.
This type of product might be especially useful for some of the learned profession, physicists, philosophers, etc.
Astrophysicists, in particular, might use them to ward off overtures, call them 'Tyson Collaborations',
where the objects at issue are less the equations, observations, or hypotheses, than the anatomical virtues of the specialists themselves.
One might launch a side theme, to the chastity one,
avoiding vampire bites
call it say
VAMPOFF
(futile of course, but it's the game that counts),
say a velcro, wrap on, neck bandage like thing.
It might have the signs of the cross,
and other good things,
the term 'Gaga', behind a circle within an X,
to ward off the little beasts.

NEW PRODUCT COUNTERPOINT COUNTERPART TO UNDIEBOOK PRODUCT LINE CONCEPTS
Why not foist another faux product line onto the virtual market?
An unnamed individual has pirated, already, my great notion for a line or three of products on the theme of UNDIEBOOK.
Why not also give those unhappy with such a state of society amid Undiebook acolytes a group of counter products, and even a contrary identity?
How about
CHASTITYBELT BOOK?
THIS WOULD BE A LINE, WORN BY MEN OR WOMEN, MADE OF, SAY, SPANDEX,
looking something like a girdle,
or racing bike shorts,
or even boxers (for those who don't need a lot of chastity protection),
WORN OVER OTHER CLOTHING.
It might have various advertising logos on it.
It might have a large padlock logo above the crotch.
It might have various advertisers' labels on various areas, say terms like Viktor, or Dior, along the elastic waist band, things like that.

a reminiscence Michael Lewis post
A propos the post on the Princeton 2012 baccalaureate address,
and the fact that someone saw my note on Gutfruend and Lewis' chat,
why not reprise this older comment too?
It really is hard to beat Lewis.
Now I have to read his book on baseball,
as I see that a meritocracy issue was central to its theme.

Re JB's I'm not, you know, party
Theme song might be:
the Miracles
"Ain't nobody straight in LA"
(Not really; no way, really!)
I heard this on the radio the other day.
Catchy Latin tune,
better than most anything on the taup fardy.

WW III
Actually WW IV,
but who's counting,
already well under way.
Very few Americans even realize this.
That is how politics has gone here.
