Freed negro slaves, only the men, all suddenly got the right to vote in 1868.
White women, all of them, North and South, only got to vote, along with the female descendants of freed negroes, over 50 years later....
Just one of my conclusions is that freed negro men were considered by Northern white men more equal to them than their own white wives!
That may well still be their view.
Well, then the question pops out, why the longstanding irrational fear of the black male among whites, when whites obviously considered them, after 1868, spiritually and politically superior to their ostensible victims, their own white wives?
Put another way, why give them all the vote if they lived in fear of them? Why arm and train a hundred thousand of them during the Civil War if you were worried about your wives?
If you then argue 'We never thought they would move North' then I say: more fool you...
To Kill A Mocking Bird
Why do you think that women finally got to vote in 1920?
It's probably not the reason you think; freed negroes had been able to vote for 50 years.
