Let's just take one example. Let us suppose that someone else's slave had somehow offended Jefferson's honor. One can even imagine this illustration regarding actions by a free black citizen, at that time.
Never mind that that, itself, would have been considered impossible to do, really, based on what honor meant.
Never imagine that Jefferson would have sought satisfaction directly from the slave.
