So, who has the best toilet design in the world?
Based on my last visit to Europe in the 80s, I would say that the Germans and Scandinavians, and perhaps others over there, have the best. They have the ledge. They are more hygenic.
Here, we had a period when the paper disposable seat covers were widely used, the AIDS scare...
But the medical establishment argued even back then that contact of that kind was unlikely to lead to infection. That may well have been true. Use of paper covers seems to have gradually faded. And that is where it still stands.
The underlying problems with our toilet design compared to other better ones, the standing water, the backsplash, still remain.
