Who do you think wants it? Has wanted it for a very long time?
Where are they looking?
In my judgment, Trump is as unlikely to try to stop them as FDR had been, in 1945, or Wilson in 1919.
If he does try, he will destroy anyway what we should have been trying to protect for the past 100 years.
That tells you all you need to know about the US and the fate of the West.
It is a long story, but I have simplified it greatly for you.
The story actually goes back much farther, and involves Britain, but I don't want to bore you with it.
Civilizationally, here is a snippet of that history in the Napoleonic period: Britain was even more willing to ally with Russia (Orthodox Civilization), against other Western continental powers, than France was to ally with the Sultan (Islamic Civilization) against them.
Certainly, Britain's indifference to the fate of the West, in general, goes back into the 18th Century, and the Napoleonic period, and is a case study in Britain's un Western civilizationalism.
Needless to say, the American Rebellion did not start us off to a promising start, re either promoting or defending Western Civilization as an idea.
It only got worse, actually, after 1776.
In case readers think I just pulled this stuff out of my ass, I am going to cite to just one work, reading in progress. That should be enough for you. Schroeder, The Transformation of European Politics, pp. 82, 122, 192, 193, 194, 206. That is as far as I have gotten, so far.
