WWII: Germany and Japan
Today: US and China
A. Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact 1939: This pact sent Hitler at the throats of the West, its future faux allies, as Stalin had hoped. Of course Hitler later turned on Russia, too.
B. Soviet-Japanese Neutrality Pact 1941: This pact sent Japan at the throats of the West in Asia and the Pacific, rather than against Russia in mainland Asia, making possible Pearl Harbor and the war in the Pacific, for which Russia remained neutral.
A. Trump Putin
B. Putin Xi
It was a winning strategy in WWII. It is a winning strategy today.
