Properly done, one doesn't need or want a power tool.
Here is a special tip: if you use a 16 oz wide mouth glass jar, you can even make a one egg yolk mayonnaise in the same jar you then store it in! Use either a very small whisk, or even a fork (!), to make the mayonnaise. It will be about 8 ozs without other additions. If properly proportioned, egg yolk to acid, it really wants to make itself. I have done this several times this way. It takes only a few minutes. Use a goodly tsp of mustard with the yolk, whisking them together before adding any oil.
