The Revolutionary Age Of Ideology, itself a continuation of The Age of the Democratic Revolution, then morphed into what Bobbitt and others call the Long War and what I call the Civil War of the West, which then unleashed what I and others much more knowledgeable than I call a modern version of The Clash of Civilizations, a global struggle, filled with revolutionary foment at every level, going on now around us and within us, and for a long time to come.
Very few Western so called intellectuals, it seems, would put this revolutionary history, since 1760, in these terms, I am not a scholar in the area, but I know of none. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
One obvious reasons, that Western intellectuals do not touch this subject, might be that it casts such incredible doubt and accusation, not to say embarrassment and loss of face, about either the wisdom or the safety, of the whole original Enlightenment Democratic Republican liberal initiative, begun in 1760 or so, and then raging throughout Europe until 1800 or so.
Jefferson wanted to see revolutions, everywhere in the West, and in the world untimately, every 19 years.
If you want that, then why not go ahead and make revolution permanent? There were some advocates, in Jefferson's Jacobin camp, back then, who advocated that, too.
That, ultimately, is what has happened, but hardly in ways, or on a scale, that Jefferson had envisioned.
