The Olympics was originally a contest among Greek states, only.
Even then, the only real historical Olympic 'value' among them, relevant to this discussion, was not really a value, but rather a military agreement, that of temporary peace, a truce,
and even that, only during the duration of the games.
That makes a lot of sense to me today too,
among Greeks and non Greeks.
