It highlights what has been wrong with weak liberalism from the beginning, with its willingness to allow big globalist (read un or non American) financial, commercial, agrarian, and industrial interests to come to control both parties in Congress at the top, and with the concept of a bi partisan vital center.
It reminds me of what Enlightened Despots under the Old Regime did to try to get enlightened and nationalist reforms in the teeth of vested aristocratic, (in England Tory local agrarian, and Whig globalist commercial and financial) interests.
I don't necessarily believe him, how can one? And what can he do in the way of reform, within our system, anyway? He will have to ddclare martial law...that is quite possible, given social unrest, and the population's relatively armed condition, and belligerent disposition.
But it is certainly the best real reforming rhetoric I have seen by a politician.
