This was one favorite remark for me:
"It was evidently entirely possible during the last twenty years to become nearly a billionaire without a substantial grasp of economics, and that was bound to have consequences."
I am tempted to add, even if one had a substantial grasp of economics (whatever that may be held to mean, really), that would not necessarily get you very far in the real world, so to speak.
