They are worried much more about what admitting that businesses are too big, or that trade with China has been bad, might mean or imply for
LIBERAL POLITICS AND LIBERAL MORALS.
What are liberal politics and morals: laissez faire anything goes politics and morals!
A conservative like Trump is the kiss of death, not so much for their liberal economics as for that anything goes laissez faire liberal morality and politics.
