Professor Kaiser said, some time ago, something like: not much likelihood of a major war for the next five or ten years.
His reasoning, as I recall was that major players are not ready, have demilitarized, etc. He certainly knows of course that lack of readiness, by itself, cannot prevent war. For certain players, lack of readiness of adversaries might be seen as an advantage. Many obvious examples spring to mind.
